More PHP and a little JavaScript

I recently started doing code challenges on Hackerrank and am currently working my way through algorithms in PHP. I’m happy to say I haven’t had any real difficulty with the challenges and am able to write up decent code at an increasing quick/confident rate. I figure as long as I do a little every day, I’ll have something substantial to show eventually. And it’s a great way to break up the monotony of the day (I even enjoy it!).

At the same time, I’ve also been slowly adding to this website. I’ve got it properly configured with a MySQL database and am using it to store posts (such as this one). Using JQuery (Javascript), I’m able to do an ajax call and change the content on this page on the fly, without refreshing the page. It’s nice seeing the workflow and feeling confident with it: JS -> Ajax call -> Laravel Router, Controller, View -> MySQL and then returning the view back to the browser.

It was a good exercise setting that up. I’ll need to clean it up some more (such as adding a “newer post” button and fixing the dates). But that should be easy to do later.
